Words from the CEO
Cooperatives are very different from investor-owned businesses. Because we are owned and controlled by our membership, our members remain our primary focus. The decisions made here are driven by the need to make our members’ lives better rather than by the need to make a profit.
Cooperatives operate by seven principles on which we were founded:
Voluntary and Open Membership
Democratic Member Control
Member Economic Participation
Autonomy and Independence
Education, Training and Information
Cooperation among Cooperatives
Concern for Community
Cooperatives are unique because of the enduring partnerships upon which they are built. Members, employees, directors, and communities come together to accomplish a common goal––improving the quality of life for our members and communities.
