Reality Store
UDWI joins other area businesses in contributing their time to a yearly local event known as the ‘Reality Store’.
The ‘Reality Store’ is a collaborative effort of the majority of Greene County schools and many local businesses to provide a hands-on educational experience for the students.
The program endeavors to help students make the connection between the grades they are making now and their future standard of living. After choosing from several occupations based on current grades, each student is given a paycheck and required to visit “businesses,” where they make payments for everyday expenses such as child care, utilities, telephone, and taxes.
Through this valuable program, students get a preview of how much it really costs to pay the bills. The knowledge the students gain from this experience is invaluable, and we are pleased to be able to contribute to their education.
