Reporting Outages

Members can report an outage by calling the UDWI office (812-384-4446), using the UDWI app (UDWI REMC in the App Store and Google Play Store), or via UDWI’s texting service (more information available below).
Please use one of these options instead of reporting through Facebook to help ensure our dispatch team sees your outage.

Outage Hub Features

UDWI’s Outage Map is available to our members to help provide you real-time information and updates during outages. In addition to seeing the number of outages in our territory, UDWI members now have access to additional outage information. Our dispatch team will work to upload additional information to our outage map in real time as our linemen work to repair outages.
We encourage our members to utilize the outage map during outages to get the latest information regarding the status of outages and repairs in your area. These updates will correspond with the information available to you when you text ‘STATUS’ to UDWI’s Text Alert System – additional information about that program can be found below.
These new features will be utilized by our dispatch team, so we appreciate your patience as we get used to using these features in real-time! Please contact our office if you have any questions regarding the outage hub or reporting outages to UDWI.

Text Alert System

Members can report outages by calling the UDWI office, the UDWI REMC app, or via UDWI’s texting service.
UDWI OFFERS AN OUTAGE STATUS NOTIFICATION SERVICE AND OUTAGE REPORTAGE SERVICE FOR ITS MEMBERS.
NOT SURE IF YOUR PHONE NUMBER IS ATTACHED TO YOUR ACCOUNT? CALL OUR OFFICE TO ENSURE YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER (NOT LANDLINE!) IS IN OUR SYSTEM. IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY RENTING AT YOUR RESIDENCE, THE ACCOUNT HOLDER MUST CALL AND ADD ADDITIONAL NUMBERS TO THE ACCOUNT.

UDWI’s text message alert system provides members with another tool to receive important account information and urgent outage alerts. All UDWI members with cell phone numbers on file were automatically enrolled in the text system when we launched the service in summer 2022. If you did not receive this text message or previously opted out of the service but would like to be enrolled, please call our office at 812-384-4446, or text “OPTIN” (one word!) to 812-384-4446 (same number!) to get your account activated.

Since the initial launch of this program, we have added new features to enhance this service! Members can text “OUT” to report an outage, “HELP” to receive more information, and “STATUS” to receive updates on outages in your area!

Members can also still report outages by calling the UDWI office or through the UDWI REMC app in addition to utilizing UDWI’s texting service. The UDWI Facebook page will continue to update members on outages as a whole and provide updates where we can. Please remember, during a weather event do not use Facebook to report outages; refer to the options above to ensure we see your report! Utilizing our text service or calling the UDWI office line will send your request directly to the dispatch team.

If you do not wish to receive text alerts, simply reply “QUIT” to opt out. Please contact our office  if you have any questions about this new alert system!
